Our History
In the early 1970’s, a small group of Christians living in Texas, who were reading the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, saw that according to the Lord’s desire as expressed through His Word, Christians should meet as the church in the city in which they reside. Based on this light, they came together and meet as the church in their city. Initially, some among them living in Houston, they met simply as the church in Houston. Later, some met as the church in Dallas since they resided in Dallas.
During the next several years, the church in Dallas enjoyed a significant increase through gospel preaching, the ministry of the Word, and the shepherding care given to one another in the Lord. Their number grew from less than ten to low hundreds in just a few years. A number among them were stirred up by the Lord to move to other cities in the area and meet with believers as the church in the city they lived. The churches were raised up in Arlington, Denton, Fort Worth and Irving through the 1970’s. These churches continued to grow and increase through the 1980’s and some even migrated to other part of the country in the mid to late 1980’s. (Acts 6:7; 19:20)
In early 1990’s some among the ones meeting in Dallas were burden to spread further in the area. Through many prayer and fellowship in the Body, a good number started to meet as the church in Plano in 1992. In spring of 1993, a number of the believers started to meet as the church in Richardson. Even though the number were small, around 25 or so, but all the ones meeting together were stand firm in one spirit with one soul striving together with the faith of the gospel. (Phil 1:27b).
From 1993 to 1996, the church in Richardson met in a rented office space at the SW corner of Campbell and Plano Road. In November 1996, the church purchased the property with an existing building located at 1701 N Jupiter Road in Richardson. This facility was adequate for the church regular weekly uses for a number of years. In addition, we were able to use the facility to conduct area conferences and hold gathering with nearby local churches.
As time passes, the existing building on the property has shown its age, which was built in the early 1970’s. The church decided to have the old building demolished and replace it with a newer one to better meeting our need and growth. In May 2016, the church completed a 20-month construction project on the property with more than double in size in square footage and updated rooms and facilities.
In the past twenty-plus years, the Lord continued to bless the church with increase as we practiced the way of gospel preaching in the community as well as on college campuses. We also endeavor in nourishing and cherishing believers and learning the Word with emphasis on God’s eternal economy and the New Testament ministry as revealed in the scriptures. We currently have a little over 100 adults meeting with us regularly as the church in Richardson. (August 2016)
What We Believe
We hold the faith which is common to all believers (Titus 1:4; Jude 1:3):
- The Bible is the complete divine revelation inspired word-by-word by God through the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16).
- God is uniquely one, yet triune — the Father, the Son, and the Spirit (1 Timothy 2:5a; Matthew 28:19).
- The Son of God, who is God Himself, was incarnated to be a man by the name of Jesus Christ (John 1:1; John 1:14).
- Christ died on the cross for our sins, shedding His blood for our redemption (1 Peter 2:24;Ephesians 1:7a).
- Christ resurrected from among the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4).
- Christ ascended to the right hand of God to be Lord of all (Acts 1:9; Acts 2:33; Acts 2:36).
- Whenever a person repents to God and believes into the Lord Jesus Christ, he is regenerated (born again) and becomes a living member of the Body of Christ (Acts 20:21; John 3:3; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:5).
- Christ is coming again to receive His believers to Himself (1 Thessalonians 2:19).
